The FMUT on paper

[this is good]
That's a really interesting build...close to the old FMUT in terms of powers, perhaps, but very different in terms of combat role. I remember playing the FMUT because he was a one-man army, a badass who could take on a whole dungeon crawl by himself. The route you're going here is entirely support-based; if your FMUT winds up alone, he's got one Scorching Burst and then it's all basic attacks. This isn't surprising, since 4th ed is so focused on intra-party cooperation.

Now you've got me thinking though. :^) I wonder if it's possible to do an alternate build that's more standalone? I'll post whatever I can come up with...cheers!

The old FMUT was great for one-on-one adventures, which is probably why I played it a lot-- fellow D&D'ers were few and far between when I was below driving age.

Yeah, this build would lose a lot of power in a solo situation-- his healing and at-will powers would especially go to waste. Still, I'd probably be content with a team player who's second best at everything-- aid the thief, watch the fighter's back, coordinate fire with the wizard.

I suspect a warlock-based FMUT would be a little more independent-- the warlock's stealth and ranged attack options would keep it out of trouble a bit longer.
